Worst Injuries in Womens Volleyball | Philippines

Volleyball, although it is not a contact sport, injures the many athletes in its own unique way. Because volleyball involves repetitive overhead motions, such as spiking and blocking, players are prone to overuse injuries of the shoulder, finger and knee injuries. These are the common injuries In volleyball Rotator Cuff Tendinitis, Finger Injuries, Ankle Sprains, Patellar Tendinitis, Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury and Low-back Pain.

Here are the list of the womens volleyball players in Philippines that suffered a worst injuries:

1.Ara Galang (2015)
Are Galang is one of the key players of DLSU and during the final four round match against the NU Bulldogs she   injured her left knee. Galang suffered tears in her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) and medial miniscus, plus a big bone bruise and need to sit out for 8 months.

2. Camille Cruz (2015)

Four days after loosing ace player  Are Galang, Camille Cruz suffered a tore in her anterior cruiciate ligament in the right knee when she landed badly on her knee and immediately dropped to the floor during the game one of the finals. Cruz has already been sidelined due to injury before, suffering a torn ACL. Galang and Cruz can’t play in the game 2 of the finals against the Ateneo Lady Eagles.

3. Dindin Santiago Manabat (2017)

Foton captain Dindin Santiago-Manabat is out for the rest of the PSL Invitationals after suffering a left knee injury in the Tornadoes’ win over Sta. Lucia last Thursday. She suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain, according to MRI results.

4. Kathy Bersola (2015)

Last season best blocker is out for the remainder of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament after suffering torn knee ligament due to an awkward landing from a spike attempt.

5. Jovelyn Gonzaga (2017)

Cignal star Jovelyn Gonzaga will be out for the rest of the PSL Grand Prix match after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury on her right knee due to an awkward landing.
